How To?

To be able to use this program, you need to have PushBots engine already included in your Android project. So, look at PushBots.com as first and set everything to be working. After you setup all correctly and verify, that your application can receive notifications, you can start using this utility.

If you look on application UI, you can see some options. Let’s go through and explain them.

Notification Title – here you can enter title of notification. This field is mandatory and you can enter up to 40 characters.

Notification Text – here you can enter your own notification text, which can be displayed, when user receives notification and unroll notification bar. You can enter up to 40 characters.

Long Text – if “Notification Text” length is not enough for you, here you can enter longer text (up to 520 characters), which can be displayed in full length.
If enabled, “Notification Text” and “Picture In Notification” options is diabled automatically.

Open URL – here you can enter URL, which will be opened, after you click on notification. If not set, your Android application main screen will be opened.
URL must be entered including “http://” or “https://“. If not, program will ask you to add it before sending push notification.

Notification Icon – here you can enter icon name, which is placed in your assets folder of Android Studio. For example, if your icon has name notification.png, then you need to enter notification here. If you not enter name of icon or you not check the checkbox, default PushBots icon (Bell icon) will be displayed in notification.
Starting Android 7, you can also change colour of that icon. To do so, enter name of icon and then press “Color” button and select your own color. Selected color will be displayed next to “Color” button as square, which match selected option.
To remove color, click by right mouse button on “Color” button.

Own Icon – here you can enter icon-style picture name, which is placed in your assets folder of Android Studio. For example, if your icon has name icon-picture.png, then you need to enter icon-picture. Or, you can enter URL of that icon. Icon will be added as small picture in your notification. For example, if you are working with contacts, then contact picture can be showed in notification.

Picture In Notification – here you can enter picture name, which is placed in your assets folder of Android Studio. For example, if your icon has name picture.png, then you need to enter picture. Or, you can enter URL of that picture. Picture will be added below of your notification and should have 2:1 aspect ratio, so Android will not crop it.

If enabled, “Long Notification Text” option is diabled automatically.

Reset Fields – this button reset all values to their defaults, erases all text and uncheck all options.

Send Push – this button send composed push message to target devices.

Log – if you check this option, you can see command, which is used to send notification through cURL.

PushBots AppID – AppID, which you will get once you add your project onto PushBots.com. You need to fill this AppID in PushBotsSender.ini file located in installation path of application. Without this ID, it is impossible to send notifications. Also, if you freshly install PushBots Sender, you need to fill this value prior to use application.

PushBots Secret – Secret, which you will get once you add your project onto PushBots.com. You need to fill this Secret in PushBotsSender.ini file located in installation path of application. Without this ID, it is impossible to send notifications. Also, if you freshly install PushBots Sender, you need to fill this value prior to use application.
